TELIYA International Society prepared the annual Yukon African Music Festival. For 2023 the event was hosted at Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre in Whitehorse, and at the Haa Shagóon Hidi Hall in Carcoss.
Live music, presentations, workshops, DJ music demo, kids art & craft, drumming, and dancing was usher to the attendees by Bazooka (Congo/France), Jessica Mbangeni (South Africa),
N’nato (Guinea/Vancouver), Brian Quaye – Orison and the Band (Ghana/Calgary), Grammy Award Winner Maju Maru Dladla (South Africa/Vancouver), Momo Solo (Ivory Coast/Montreal), Emmanuel Pele (Ivory Coast/Montreal), Leonard Boniface, Pleasurecraft Band, Michael Oliphat, Dennis Shorty & Jenny Fröhling, and Roxx Hunter & Rick Sward’s Band.
As part of event preparation, TELIYA President, Mr. Leonard Boniface, met with the Yukon Premier, Honorable Ranj Pillai at his office. The partnership with the Yukon Territory government has been instrumental in making these events a success.
Our President got to share the stage with the Grammy Award Winner, Mbengani, from South Africa.
It was an amazing success!
